How-to: Edit AVI in Adobe Premiere Pro

AVI to Adobe Premiere Pro issue

Having problems importing AVI file types into my Premiere Pro project. I will go to import the folder and the yellow loading bar will come up to say that it's importing. How to deal with this problem?

When I try to import any video file (e.g. AVI files) in Adobe Premiere Pro cc, I get this error: “codec missing or unavailable”.
