Blu-ray Backup: 1:1 Full Disc Copy on Mac 10.9 Mavericks and Mountain Lion

Summary: Wanna to get a full copy of your Blu-ray on Mac 10.9 Mavericks and Mountain Lion? In this article, we will introduce the fast and easiest way to backup your favorite Blu-ray movie on Mac keeping the original structure without any loss of quality.

Why it is necessary to create backups of your Blu-ray collection on Mac 10.9 Mavericks and Mountain Lion?

Firstly, as we know, Blu-ray Discs are easy to break, but a digital copy is safe and permanent, even if the data get lost, there’re ways to recover.

Secondly coping Blu-ray movies on Mac will protect your BD Discs from scratches – will you still hunt for a movie in hundreds of Blu-rays while you can easily search and play it with a remote control?

Thirdly, ripping Blu-ray solves the problem of BD region code restriction. Commercial Blu-ray Discs could be Region A, B and C, and not a BD player will read full region Blu-ray Discs. Things happen that your BD player refuse to read the BD you BD purchased from oversea market (unauthorized region). After converting Blu-ray to digital copies, the movie clips you get is unprotected HD videos, which are acceptable for all media players as long as the codec is supported.

How to backup Blu-ray movie with 1:1 Full Disc Copy on Mac 10.9 Mavericks and Mountain Lion in 2 step-process

For Blu-ray disc coping, Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper for Mac ranks top on the Mac Blu-ray ripping, conversion and backup application list. Having tried DVDFab, Magic DVD Ripper, Copier 2, but all of them can't beat Pavtube. This top Blu-ray Ripper from Pavtube can rolls off Blu-ray/DVD disc protection, supportsloseless 1:1 Blu-ray backup and keeps all the disc titles and chapter structure perfectly.

Easy Guide: Full Disc Copy BD original file structure to BDMV/Video_TS folder with all subs tracks, audio streams and chapter information included with only 2-step process

They provide free trial (no time limitation) before purchase; and you can reach the Windows version here.

Note: Before coping, you need to hook up an external Blu-ray drive with your Mac, and insert your Blu-ray Disc into the drive. Keep your Mac networked to insure the software will handle Blu-ray copy-protections.

Step 1.
Run Best Blu-ray Ripper for Mac and import disc.

Click “Load files” icon to load disc from ROM, IFO/ISO or folder, or from “File menu > Load from disc”. I also noticed if you have a ISO file to import, it will recognize the ISO file automatically with no need to run virtual driver and mount ISO files firstly. Good design.

Step 2. Make 1:1 Full Disc Copy

Once loaded, click “Browse” to specify where to send the generated files to. When ready, click “Copy the entire disc” icon to start copying your Blu-ray movie to an intact Blu-ray folder

Note: With the trial version, you can make full disc copy of your Blu-ray disc 3 times.

When copying process finished, click "Open output folder" to quick locate generated BD folder. Connect your hard drive to computer and transfer them into it or directly store it on your Mac computer. The final output files have the same structure as that on the original Blu-ray disc.

Tips:

1. I used another Pavtube program called ByteCopy for Mac to backup my Blu-rays on Mac without quality loss. Meanwhile, several audio tracks and subtitles are preserved so I can switch language when watching movies. You can also have a try!
